The 63rd Ten Tors event was held again on Dartmoor with the base and start/finish line being at Okehampton camp in the North of the National Park. 2400 teenagers in 400 teams completed the 35, 45 or 55 mile self-sufficient routes.
This years Army run event was supported by a trio of Royal Navy Commando Helicopter Force (CHF) Merlin HC4/4A’s from the nearby RNAS Yeovilton, who were working under EX Wyvern Tor. 846 Naval Air Squadron provided logistic support, transporting out equipment and personnel to positions across the Moors. Safety is a priority during the event and the CHF Merlin’s work closely with civilian organisations whilst providing 24hr Casualty Evacuation across the course of the event. In addition to the three aircrews there were over 30 ground personnel who varied in roles from the engineers and technicians to the Mobile Air Operations Team, who provided the personnel for the Forward Refueling Point and the Helicopter Landing Strip.
